Happy Metamorphosis Monday! I’m joining the party graciously hosted by Susan at Between Naps on the Porch
My project this week, really it’s another Hubby project, has a little story.
While at an auction several years ago, a set of three Halcyon Days boxes sold for $50. I couldn’t believe I didn’t even try to bid. I told Hubby, “The next time something is that cheap – just bid. We’ll figure out what to do with it later.”
The man never listens to me, except on that day. The next item up for auction was this HUGE plantation wardrobe – Hubby bid away. Now when I said “we’d figure out what to do with it” I envisioned an end table, not an armoire that’s 7’x9′ – yikes!
The finish had blackened over the years so Hubby took the piece to the mill intending to work on refinishing. Months went by, he said it was “out of sight” and therefore; “out of mind”. To remedy the “out of sight” delay; I took a photo of the pieces and put it on his computer – he doesn’t know how to change the desk top – so he saw this frequently….
If DIY involves a supervisor – I’m all for it. Finally, the end result……
It has beautiful scrolling on the top and corners……
and the mirror, which we left in it’s original condition…..
Once the old blackened finish was removed, we could see the wood grain was beautiful……
It’s new home is in the master bedroom, and it is a perfect accompaniment to the rest of the furniture – lucky for us….
Thank you for visiting. I’m stretching out this mini tour of the master bedroom; we’ll have Tabletop Tuesday and Mantel Friday – a busy week in the bedroom. I hope you’ll stop by……..
