Welcome to my home. All of our friends come to the back door, so I thought it only fitting that we begin in the kitchen.
The room that is now our kitchen was originally a breezeway between the main house and the kitchen. In 1900 the breezeway was closed in and the kitchen was relocated to that space.
This is what our kitchen looked like when we moved in 20+ years ago, obviously not what attracted me to the house.
It took a year, this was the result of the first make over……
Roughly 10 years later, we did it all again……..
My Kitchen Goddess….
I saw a cup rack through a window at a kitchen design shop in Florence, as soon as we returned home, Hubby removed this rack from an armoire ……
Originally the was a loft over this space, Hubby removed the floor boards and made them into the kitchen floor to match the rest of the heart pine floors in the house – remember this had been an outside space.
Our island was purchased with a wooden top, Hubby replaced it with soap stone a year or so ago.
The policies in our kitchen…….
Thanks for stopping by, we’ll tackle another room next go round. Visit Susan at Between Naps on the Porch to enjoy all the Metamorphis Monday participants.

Well, honestly, my kitchen looks like your first one! ha! but I don’t feel so bad because Paula Dean did a show at Jimmy Carter’s house in Plains, Ga and it was the same!! Same kitchen handles and all. I have to confess I like the old style!! Makes me feel a-tuned ha to the past. Reminds me of my kitchen I grew up in as a child.
Now as to your second kitchen, I like that homey wall paper and the contrast of the table with it…
The last one is nice too and I love the mug rack!! I just have screw hooks under the cubboard (and a mug tree) holding mine.
So in conclusion–I like all ;-)
