I was perusing Pinterest the other day and found a few clever ideas for a Doggie birthday party that I thought would be fun to share. All of the photos with links to their original sources can be found on my Pinterest board Dogs, Dogs, Dogs…..
It isn’t a party without guests, so let’s begin with the invitations….
You need to decide if you’re going to invite other dogs and their humans or only the human friends and family. If you decide to invite other dogs, make sure the dogs are familiar and friendly with one another. It’s not a good idea to introduce unfamiliar dogs at a party. Invite only dogs that have played together either at dog parks, obedience classes, or family gatherings.
Your backyard or a local dog park are perfect locations for your dog party. If you have a party in your backyard, make sure your fence and gates are secure so that all dogs in attendance will be safe while they’re celebrating. Make sure the table is set with plenty of water bowls throughout the location. It’s important that all of the dogs have access to water, especially if your gathering is during the summer.
Here are some fun ideas for the tables…..
There are so many fun themes for both the humans guests….like these cookies…..
and some cute doggie treats….
Frozen peanut butter dog cups or cookies made using grain free dog food would be a great threat for my Winston with his food allergies….
You’ll want to have a variety of toys to keep your dogs occupied.I would avoid high value chew items such as hooves or jerky – even the best of buds can argue over a tasty treat. The dog guests might enjoy playing a game of Bobbing for Balls, a spin on the popular Bobbing for Apples party game. Dogs can dive into a bucket of water to retrieve a tennis ball. In the summer, a wadding pool could be all the entertainment they need – stay clear of the shaking dog! As your guests leave, don’t forget the goody bags…
Of course you could always invite only humans to your pooch’s birthday party, serve cocktails and let your guy be the center of attention….make sure you teach him a few tricks so he can earn the gifts…..
