My annual flower pot fluffing ritual revolves around planting my mother’s front porch pot for Mother’s Day. This year for some, quickly forgotten, reason I skimped a little on my usual spending extravaganza and it left me with some sad looking flower pots. When you purchase 2 humungous flower pots at Costco every year for several years running…you can’t expect to skimp on flowers to fill them.
During a visit over lunch with my friend, Joan, she shared the new that our favorite garden designer was once again working at a local nursery…so off to Driver Brothers I flew. Dwayne not only knows his plants, he knows me well enough to be familiar with my lack of gardening expertise…which is a nice way of saying I don’t like to water. These are Dwayne’s suggestions for my flower pots..
Argyranthium – Yellow…basically a yellow Daisy.
Cha-Ching Cherry Petunia ….Love these with the yellow daisies. LOVE the name!
Abunda-sweet little purple flowers
Egyptian Starflower …these add some height…not as tall as the daisies, but a nice variation.
Scaiora…adds some green foliage and purple spillover flowers.
All of Dwayne’s selections were made with the comment “very hardy”…he knows they need to survive me.
Everything is young and provided it continues to rain…will grow.
There are smaller pots and a birdbath fairy garden in the same location…
This is the view as you walk towards the back door…
I was planning to show you a before photo…but why? I’m old, it’s a distant memory already.
