Our TV remotes have gone wild….the concept of a universal remote is (apparently) not doable at our house. We have one for the satellite – it will operate every thing on the television EXCEPT converting the TV to the DVD feed. So the television remote needs to stay for that one crucial task. The DVD remote has one function only because it can’t replace the DISH remote. Then we have the surround sound remote. In my opinion, it could live in a drawer, but OH NO!!! Hubby’s thought of the perfect “display” is to have them in an orderly row on his chair’s side table. If I, heaven forbid, am in the room alone and turn on the news, he will reclaim the remote and return it to it’s proper location before he sits down.
I have purchase so many remote containers in an effort to rid the room of the row, I’ve lost count. Here are a couple that didn’t go over….
There were several wooden boxes that are now in spots around the house because they were either “too big, or too tall”. I was so thrilled to finally find something that received his stamp of approval…..and it has been in the basement for years….
I filled the bottom with potpourri ball thingies so the tiny remote didn’t disappear and hubby was delighted to find malted milk balls in his new remote container…really? At long last, we have a cease fire in the battle over styling the remotes.
