It’s amazing how one small change, new paint, can have such a huge impact on a room. We have loved our terracotta orange sponge painted kitchen walls for fifteen years. Even so, after that length of time, it was time for a new look. Initially, the plan was to sponge paint or rag the walls with a base coat of yellow followed by a very light orange. Once the base coat was on, we (we as in I watched, hubby did) painted a piece of drywall and then sponge rolled the orange. Within minutes we both agreed that we were loving the lighter, brighter kitchen so much – we decided to stick with the yellow.
I did switch the brown wicker chairs for some dining chairs we had in the attic. The old chairs are comfy and the cushions have adorable fabric, however, in keeping with the lighter brighter kitchen I wanted smaller white chairs. I’ll show you how we transformed them soon, you can see the end results now…..
Everything else stayed the same, lucky me. The curtains go nicely with both orange and yellow.
I need to share with you the story (saga) of my new calendar – you won’t believe the mess I created for myself and the efforts I’ve gone to avoid admitting a mistake…another day.
If you’d like to see the comparison of the before kitchen….the beginning stages are here.
All of the new photos were taken with the lights off, midday – it’s such a huge difference.
I’m joining Metamorphosis Monday at Between Naps on the Porch ….I hope you’ll join me for a browse through all the fun projects.
Thanks for visiting!
