This kitchen re-do has been in my head for a long time, it takes catching Hubby in the right mood to proceed. After fifteen years, we (really, it was me) decided it was time to say adios to the sponge painted terracotta orange walls. It’s not that I don’t like the color or the look, it’s simply time for a change. I think the selling point for Hubby was the photo from Under the Tuscan Sun where I was showing wall color and he saw Diane Lane (Lorie, Darling to him from Lonesome Dove). I don’t care what inspired him, just getting him to agree to paint is huge!!!
I’ve loved this color for a long time, but just to give you an idea of what it really looks like I took an afternoon shot with the twelve recessed lights on….
and off….
after two coats of Kilz with the color formula added, we’d already lightened to this….
I may be able to take food photos without carrying the plates outside…..yes!! We’ve gone back and forth trying to decide if we want to add a glaze over the top of our new walls. The chairs in the kitchen are also being re-vamped. I’ve had big tan wicker chairs with adorable cushions that I believe are headed to the porch. Instead the plan is to paint ttwo armchairs that currently reside in the attic. They’d lighten uo the room and take up less space.
I hope you come back to see the ta-da! With any luck, we’ll be finished by next week.
I’m joining Metamorphosis Monday at Between Naps on the Porch today.
