Every ten years, or so, I’m in the mood to refresh a bedroom. When Hubby, the head remodeler, began complaining that we’d just painted this room – I reminded him that it was last done when Number 1 son went away to college….Number 1 son turns 37 at Christmas. Yep, he agreed…I wasn’t rushing remodel projects. The “old” wasn’t bad, in fact I still liked the look. However, after making changes to the other bedroom last year (you can see it HERE), I wanted a lighter and brighter look for this room as well. I showed you the beginning and some of the process previously in Bedroom Refresh Project, let’s take a look at the finished project…
The dragonfly fabric was made into a duvet cover….not by me because I wanted it to be pretty….
and the chippy chest (shown here) received a mini face lift with red chalk paint on the drawers and dragonfly drawer pulls. The Etsy shop where I purchased them said they were handmade (in China), I’ll play along….
The drawer pulls are all the same size and have the same finish, but the dragonfly patterns are mismatched on purpose.
I liked the Pottery Barn curtain so much in the other room, that I bought a similar style for this room. These had tabs, as opposed to the ties I used previously, the look wasn’t what I wanted so I had the tabs cut off and button holes made for shower curtain hooks,,,,dragonfly hooks, of course…
I kept Youngest Son’s art wook in the other bedroom….and had beach photos taken by Number 1 son and Number 1 daughter-in-law printed on canvas for this room….a sentimental touch just for me…..
Having an old house means having a fireplace in almost every room….not a bad thing at all….especially for this Queen of Clutter
There are a few more touches around the room, let’s take a look beginning with the armoire Hubby built using heart pine from our mill. An old house also means, no closets….plusses and minues in old homes…
The lanterns on top of the armoire have led candles that operate by remote control. Number ! DIL said I need to have the remote on her side of the bed or Number 1 son will mistake it for a TV remote and be thrilled that I listened to his request. I don’t want to give false hope followed by disappointment. Here is a very old child’s rocking chair…it was mine…
Following my recent list of guest bedroom essentials, I have blackout drapes coming as soon as button holes are added. Yes, I even need to have that done by someone else because if anyone could mess up an auto feature on a sewing machine, it would be me. I have comfy fluffy throws, a fuszzy rug to keep toes warm in the morning, slippers, and a dirty cloths hamper…
With all this twirling around the room, I’ve neglected to show the bed…
and the nightstands….
When we have visitors, I’ll remove some of my clutter and add the water carafes that I keep tucked away until needed.
one last peek at the bed…anxiously awaiting holiday visitors…
Thanks for visiting…..I’m connecting with Between Naps on the Porch for Metamorphasis Monday!
