The bedroom remodel is finished…almost. The duvet cover hasn’t been sewn, but I was antsy to share so the fabric is wrapped around a duvet awaiting the sewing machine. We (as in I selected, hubby applied)painted the room a color I found on Pinterest – it’s a welcome change from the navy blue.
The drawings and painting in the room were all done by my youngest son, so even though the room no longer looks like his old space, the art will always remind me of him when he’s away. The decor didn’t begin with a bird theme, but it fell into one as I found various pieces…
The wing chair was purchased when we first got married from a discount furniture store in Los Angeles. It’s been recovered so many times, I’ve lost count. This go round I decided to have a slip cover made – I didn’t save any money, but I like the look. I found the table in my favorite primitive antique store – it had been painted lavender…why? A spray can of flat paint transformed it. I can’t paint natural wood – I just can’t, but I have no issue with changing the already painted furniture to my preferred color.
Most of the rooms in our house have fireplaces, the ones in the bedrooms were used for coal – there are even a few burn marks on the old floors.
The house was built without closets, so we have armoires in the bedrooms…
This nightstand is a tray I’ve used for tablescapes, the little bird handles fit right in….
on the other side of the bed, I used Brady’s old chair for the night stand…..
the dresser was a “too cheap to pass up” purchase…..I have a few of those around the house….
this is the fabric that will eventually be the duvet cover….
one last little piece….the heating vent cover…Hubby transformed an old piece of furniture to cover the duct pipe that provides air for both bedrooms. Keep in mind, ducts, plumbing, and electricity were all added long after the house was built – nothing is “in” the walls…..
and to finish showing you the finished bedroom remodel – a few from around the room…
This post was published earlier, but never shared – I’m sharing today on Metamorphosis Monday at Between Naps on the Porch…..
