A brunch staple at our house is Apple Sausage – love it. When we moved from California, I called the butcher that I used to buy it from and he was kind enough to share his recipe. He made the sausage into links, I simplified it by making patties. The taste is pretty spot on – give it a go – I bet you’ll love it as much as we do.
Ingredients
- I tube of Jimmy Dean (simply my preference) regular patty sausage
- ½ granny smith apple, peeled and diced
- 1 teaspoon apple pie spice
- 3 tablespoons dark brown sugar
Instructions
- Mix and form into patties
- Cook over low heat.
- The sugar will cause the sausage to blacken – OMGoodness, so good.
Notes
Apple Pie Spice ¼ cup ground cinnamon 1 tbsp ground allspice 2 tsp ground nutmeg* 2 tsp ground ginger ½ tsp ground cardamom (optional)
