Today I’m sharing an old transformation from the son’s basketball court to the parent’s koi pond.
Our home was owned by a school for ten years. During that time they installed telephone poles to transform an old concrete slab into a (mini) basketball court. My guys spent many hours on the court over the years playing ball with their dad and their friends. On occasion there would be father/son teams playing. I believe Hubby lost a bit of interest when the boys began to beat him with great regularity.
Naturally they grew up and went off to college, and left behind was crumbling concrete.
Hubby had a gentleman here doing some back hoe work…..I saw this as the perfect opportunity. I requested that the man remove the concrete and dig a hole 10’x12′ and 4 1/2′ deep. Then I went to the grocery store…….
I returned to find a hole 20’x 22′ and 8 feet deep and Hubby asking what I’d done. The moral of this tale; never leave a man alone with a back hoe! We adapted – thanks to Firestone being very accommodating in shipping a liner to our (huge) specifications. I then found instructions for a DIY pond filter – made from a Rubbermaid stock tank. Every now and then living in cow country does come in handy. As usual. I find the plans and Hubby DIY’s for me. Now we have tons of room for fish…..
and thoroughly enjoy it…..
