I’ve said before, I’m not a DIY-er. But…I have a Hubby that is – yay! Sad for him, I love to organize a good “fix-it” project.
Several years ago I purchased a fainting couch (while he was at a poker game). I knew that it needed a major overhaul – thus the low price – it’s simply taken me a while to get around to pointing Hubby in the right direction. Here’s what we started with…..
Turns out, someone had attempted repairs in the past – someone that didn’t know how to repair furniture….
This was during the “don’t buy old furniture without me” talk – sure thing, honey ;-)
After Hubby worked his magic………
Three of the four legs are new, the board along the base was replaced by my very own master carpenter…….
I selected the fabric :-) and had the old horse hair cushion recovered (I can’t sew either)…….
Hubby, being a man of many talents, also did the upholstery. Yes, he is a keeper…
As long as we’re in the living room – let’s take a little look around…..

This is a fab project, well done! Fits perfectly in your living room where one may have a case of the vapours anytime.
The top fabric is breath-taking – would you mind telling us all where you got it and are those Cypress trees? We live on the coast in California and have trees that look much like those. Again, beautiful job!

Thank you. The fabric is from Calico Corners, the name is Fairgrove, and the color is Sisal – I love it too.
