Happy Metamorphosis Monday!
A huge “thank you” to Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for hosting this fun event. Be sure to visit her site for a list of all the participants.
Today I want to share the transformation from old siding to a fabulous bench. This year both my mother and my husband made the mistake of asking what I wanted for my birthday. I suspect they were hoping for a simple trip to a jewelry store. Ever since my first visit to Between Naps on the Porch, I’d been planning my very own blog. Part of the master plan involved a cute backdrop for my tablescapes. In my feeble brain, I had visions of a handmade bench from my husband and painted topiaries from my mother. They asked.
The first step was to remove some old boards from the top level of our mill. A story for another day. Our home is 213 years old, with it came a 211 year old grist mill. Tours soon.
Hubby adapted aspects from several Adirondack benches.
He created a village of bird houses on the back, the middle shape reminded us of a church – the center of most small towns.
My mother has become quite a talented artist, we have a gallery of her work. She painted the topiaries beautifully.
Everything needs to be accessorized…..
Everyone comes to our back door, this is what greets them.
Somehow, I believe next year birthday will be a surprise :- )
